Media Lag

Sunday morning I was leaving Thorton’s with an arm full of donuts for my Sunday School class when I spied the local paper.  My initial thought was “old news” and then I realized that it had only been about 14 hours….

The whole front page was about the new Arena downtown as well as a special section inside.  A full 12 hours after I had seen a ton of pictures on my friends facebook page.

and my son had a friend at the same event for workers of the arena who posted a video on his facebook page.  Again, well before the paper was available to the general public.

Granted, my friend didn’t talk about the hot brown hotdog, but there are some things I can live without knowing.  The main thing was how does it look?

Now I know.

The arena isn’t for sale, but it is a huge piece of real estate and a great example of how social media and online content can help you get your listings into the hands of the people who are interested.

(And I wanted to point out this is the first newspaper I have purchased in about 5 years. I figure for the price of it, there will be at least one coupon I could use-even though I can get those online now too)
